Prediction: Atalanta vs Juventus

Best Odds: 1/1

Bookmaker:

Two sides who have their sights set on securing a Champions League return this season, Atalanta will welcome Juventus to Bergamo on Sunday evening.

Atalanta

Starting with the hosts, while Atalanta might have marked their return from September’s international break with an action-packed 3-2 defeat at the hands of Fiorentina, La Dea have come roaring back. Last seen earlier in the week putting in a gritty performance as they landed a 1-0 victory away at Verona, Gian Piero Gasperini’s men should find the mood in their camp at a real high. In fact, opening their Europa League adventure with a routine 2-0 win against Rakow, the Bergamo-based outfit have won each of their last three appearances across all competitions. Likewise, along with opening September with an eye-catching 3-0 romp against Monza, fans around the Gewiss Stadium will be excited by their side’s recent improvements at the back. Along with keeping a clean sheet in each of their three consecutive victories, La Dea have also recorded a clean sheet in four of their previous five showdowns.

Team News

Still suffering from a muscle injury and missing each of Atalanta’s last three appearances, La Dea will once again be without summer recruit and former West Ham striker Gianluca Scamacca. Likewise, the Italian international will be joined in the sidelines by both Lukas Vorlicky and El Bilal Toure.

While Mario Pasalic might have bagged just a single Serie A strike since opening the 2023/24 campaign, the 28-year-old will be hoping to keep his spot leading Gasperini’s attack. Making the move from Cremonese this summer, Marco Carnesecchi will once again start between the sticks here.

Juventus

As for the visitors, slumping to what was a remarkable 4-2 loss away at Sassuolo last weekend, Juventus would have been relived to claim an immediate boost a few days ago. Last seen in midweek claiming a 1-0 victory at home against a high-flying Leece, the Italian giants will be desperate to lay down a heavyweight marker here. With their sights firmly set on securing a Champions League return this time around, Massimiliano Allegri s side have largely impressed since opening up the 2023/24 campaign. Marking their return from September’s international break with a 3-1 romp against Lazio, Juve have suffered just a single defeat since opening proceedings last month. Likewise, landing a 2-0 win when they last travelled to Bergamo back on May 7th, Allegri s men will be hoping for a repeat performance this weekend.

Team News

Still at the heart of a dipping scandal, Juventus will once again be without the banned Paul Pogba on Sunday evening. Likewise, the Old Lady still remain without the injured trio of Alex Sandro, Mattia De Sciglio and Moise Kean.

Finding the net on his first Serie A start of the season against Leece earlier in the week, Polish international Arkadiusz Milik will be hoping to keep his spot here. Already notching four domestic strikes since opening the new campaign, 25-year-old Federico Chiesa will partner Milik in the final third.
